We are 37 weeks to the date.
Today we had our first home visit by our Midwife, Melanna and so far the feed back is that we are pretty much ready for this little
blessing to come earth side.
Robindra had some serious technicality questions regarding set and prep with the birthing pool and what his role would look like during delivery. Melanna, (so kind, patient and grounded) simply said “Whatever role you wish to play, if you wish to be full on and catch the baby, you can totally do that or if you wish to be on the side lines, you can totally do that too.”… Robindra with his big brown eyes responded with full urgency his decision to be Full IN and was so excited of the possibility of him catching baby.
On September 16th, a harvest full moon. I drew myself a bath and sat in it with the intention to design the experience of my birth into mother, as requested by my then Doula. Maybe not in such a ritualistic way, but I am so wired to set clear and precise intentions (landmark forum influence) with the support of the rhythms of nature, and it being a harvest full moon I was set on sitting in the tub and declaring my vision for this baby to come earth side.
The Words That Came Through:
My Mantra: “Like A Bar of Soap!”
Top 3 Words: Home, Healthy & Graceful
Baby Emerald is born in the full moon light on December 13th at 8pm MT. Our birth is in the comfort of our home in our birthing pool.
Contractions began early that morning at about 4am, slow and steady was the transition as the contractions started to get closer and closer. Robindra prepared the pool as i paced and found my own rhythm to navigate the contractions and connect to my breath. Our home was graced with the presence of our two sweet girlfriends, who contained a beautiful loving space for us to feel supported and in the flow of this miracle about to take place. As the contractions were 3 min apart at about 6pm we had our midwife, Melanna show up ready for anything. In two hours our baby slipped out like a bar of soap born in the caul. As baby was making its way down and out I experienced the most sensual, orgasm of my life. Our water never broke so baby came out intact in the amniotic sac and Robindra was there to catch the baby and once the baby was in his arms the sac popped and Robindra kept baby underwater and slowly removed the sac from baby’s face and body as Melanna guided and instructed him to do so. The placenta floated near baby and Robindra placed baby onto my chest. All three of us sitting in the pool skin to skin, in tears of joy, high and wide. Within 20min baby latched on to nurse with ease and grace. 3 hours later Robindra asked baby if it was ok for him to cut the umbilical cord, baby squirmed and fussed and then became still. Robindra proceeded to make the cut, baby had a little sigh and we both embraced baby ever so tightly and made sure with out any doubt that all was going to be ok. Placenta was then placed into an ice chest to be later processed into capsules so I can take them as a super food and baby continues to get nutrients.
Lucky enough I did not tear and Melanna did not need to stitch anything. We were able to go to our bed and co-sleep with our baby and sweet Suri right at the foot of our bed. A blissful sleep all the way to the next morning. We had a healthy, graceful home birthing experience. And So it is.
